Actually I do remember a little story. When I was but a young whipper snapper, about 16 years old (thats 12 years ago)I was in a band called Lararus Animal (or Lazer-ass Animal as we were once called). We happened upon a friend of a friend whose daughter wanted to become a rock star as well as her current position as a hair model but... she needed a backing band. Ridiculous you may be thinking but ridiculous things will happen when your young. Needless to say she wasnt that great and wasted a load of studio time tring to do a track with us, but it did get us through various connections to play on the Radio 1 stage 'live' at the clothes show supporting the boy band, Damage. Yay.. Damage aside I say 'live' as what we didnt realise was that we would be miming to our own track. So upon our arrival and us finding this out we had to have a brief band discussion. After very nearly bottling it we convinced Steve our singer and ourselves to 'perform'. So after negotiating with the bouncer round the back stage area and proving by way of small dances and guitaring/drumming motions that we were in fact a real band and we were indeed playing we were let into the chaotic area behind one of the biggest stages at the clothes show. Some time later we decided to go for a wander to see if we could blag some free stuff to wear on stage and after some more negotiating we came back triumphant in our new tops etc shortly before we were due to go on. A large crowd had gathered. The drums were gaffa taped together. We had no leads in our guitars. Naked. Well we felt naked if you catch my drift. When we came out of the smoke from onto the main stage there was about 300 people stood there looking up at us, the largest group we had ever played to, we nearly froze up but a little girl piped up from the audience and shouted "hey, your not Damage". So spurred with the knowledge that we were not a group of boy band singers and weilding our unplugged electric guitars we began the performance. 250 of the crowd walked away after about 30 seconds. We were not Damage. To top it all afterwards I had to ask for Damages autograph for my friend Jenny. I was not best pleased, although to make up for this cruel and unusal punishment we did get to see about 30 models get changed about 20 times in a row backstage. Must be a difficult job. The costumes were fabulous...ahem
