Exam & practical
Pass the written exam (80%+), then submit photos, measurements and tune files from a real vehicle.
Vetting & certificate
An engineer reviews your submission. Once approved you receive a serialised certificate and a directory listing.

Each level builds on the last. Certificates are valid for the period shown and can be renewed with a short refresher.

FAQ
Common questions
How is the training delivered?
Entirely online. Lessons are on-demand video with downloadable resources; Level 3 adds scheduled live coaching sessions over video call. You can study on desktop, tablet or phone.
What does “vetting” involve?
After passing the exam you submit evidence from a real vehicle — install photos, a wiring diagram, measurement captures and your tune file, depending on level. A DarkMatter engineer reviews it within 5–10 business days and may ask for changes before approving.
What if I fail the exam?
You can re-sit the exam twice at no cost after a 24-hour cool-down. Further attempts are available for a small re-sit fee.
How long is a certificate valid?
Level 1 and Level 2 are valid for 24 months, Level 3 for 36 months. Renewal is a short online refresher covering new firmware and features.
Can a shop enroll several technicians?
Yes — approved resellers will be able to buy seat packs and track each technician’s progress from the reseller portal.
